In my opinion, the best source for alternative energy probably depend on where energy is needed. Take the example of Central Africa. Not exactly what you want to be the generators of electricity, even if it is near the sea, the cost of transporting energy, and thus the obvious choice for them would be the solar energy, Tin Scandinavieou a nochord, tidal generators  Sahara really bad idea.
